Miles of Freedom Awarded North Texas Food Bank Capacity Grant

Dallas, TX— Miles of Freedom is pleased to announce our acceptance of the 2023 North Texas Food Bank Capacity Building Grant to support the purchase of a new Cargo Van for the MLK Fresh Produce Distribution Center.

This grant will allow Miles of Freedom to continue the mission of providing support and assistance to families and communities impacted by incarceration. It will also help to increase the impact of food insecurity in Southern Dallas through the MLK Fresh Produce Distribution Center.

The MLK Fresh Produce Distribution Center, operated by members and graduates of Miles of Freedom, is open Monday through Thursday to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables, dry goods, and more to the community at no charge and with no restrictions.

Since its inception, MOF has distributed over 2 million pounds of food to over 10,000 households and individuals in need.

“We simply could not do what we do in the fight against hunger without the support of feeding partners like Miles of Freedom,” said Trisha Cunningham, President and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank. “Our grant program provides needed resources to our partner agencies allowing them to serve more people in their community. We are grateful for the commitment and dedication of Miles of Freedom to hunger relief in our community.
